Dental Specialists

At certain times, SA Dental Service recruits for the following specialists:

  • Oral Surgeons
  • Paedodontists
Dental specialists working at SA Dental Service have access to world-leading facilities and services:

The Adelaide Dental Hospital
Dental Specialists in SA Dental Service are based at the Adelaide Dental Hospital (ADH), recognised as a first-class clinical and teaching environment. In partnership with the University of Adelaide, teams of experienced tutors and clinical staff provide clinical training and specialist and general oral health services.

The ADH offers a range of general and specialist services through a combination of staff and visiting specialists; academic staff of the School of Dentistry; and undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled in School of Dentistry training programs.

The Special Needs Unit
  • Provides an exceptional service to the people of South Australia, regularly attracting national and international recognition for its outstanding work
  • General and specialist dentists are involved in significant research programs and are regularly invited to speak at national and international conferences
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
  • This is a specialist unit of the SA Dental Service, Royal Adelaide Hospital and the University of Adelaide
  • It is also a teaching facility for undergraduate and post-graduate dental students and dentists
  • Provides specialist training for medical registrars in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
Orthodontics
  • Jointly run by the Adelaide Dental Hospital and the University of Adelaide the Begg Orthodontic Unit is located at the ADH
  • The unit provides specialist orthodontic services to eligible clients within South Australia and is responsible for the provision of specialist consultative and treatment services, and clinical education for undergraduate and postgraduate students (in conjunction with the University of Adelaide).
The John Goodhart Clinic
  • Here specialist dentists, visiting dental specialists, postgraduate dental students, hygienists and dental assistants collectively take care of the advanced restorative dental needs of patients referred by the Community Dental Service, other government health clinics and, occasionally, by private dental practices
Paedodontics
  • Specialists who focus on treating and caring for special dental needs of children, mainly in partnership with School Dental service staff and specialists at the Women's and Children's Hospital
