SA Ambulance Service

About us
  • SA Ambulance Service is the principal provider of ambulance services in South Australia and is at the forefront of care for South Australians. We serve a population of 1.7 million and operate in an area close to one million square kilometres of varied terrain, from the beauty of remote rural areas to the cosmopolitan city of Adelaide.
  • Our committed team of nearly 3000 career and volunteer staff support South Australians by providing emergency and non-emergency care, including rescue and air retrieval services. We also meet community needs by providing care at home and telephone advice.
  • SA Ambulance Service responds to an average of 800 incidents per day.
  • A new three-year Strategic Plan is soon to be launched, with a key focus on putting the 'Patient First' to ensure SA Ambulance Service continues to drive change, innovation and clinical development. We are a modern service and the strategy will recognise new models of care to support our treat and transport emergency service.
  • We are committed to providing quality clinical standards and are progressing well to become the first ambulance service in Australia to be accredited by the NHSQS standards.
